now that’s generous

Jacob is going to a birthday party tomorrow for twins in his class – a boy and a girl – and we have yet to buy the gift(s).
~~~John D. Rockefeller Jr.:
Think of giving not as a duty but as a privilege.~~~
Me: I think we’ll get one present for both of them. Like a game or something.
Jacob: No, no, Mom. Eric wants a Bakugon and Molly wants a Barbie.
Me: . . .
Jacob: No, a Littlest Pet Shop. And Five hundred dollars for Eric. A Bakugon and five hundred dollars. That’s what he wants.
Me: . . .
Jacob: Okay, maybe not the five hundred dollars but for sure the Bakugon. They have them at Toy’s R Us. Go there.
Me: I think we’ll get them a game or something. Maybe Cranium.
Jacob: . . .
isn’t it interesting how conversations with kids always seem to have those pauses ….
… on both sides.
I hate buying gifts for other people’s kids when I have no idea what they like! I stick to safe things – games, cool sticker activity packs etc. I never know when Dora is in, or Bratz are out. BLAH! You won’t get there without dropping 50 dollars in gifts for the two of them. Good times!
My birthday is coming up soon, not sure about the Bakugon, and barbie is right out, but the 500 dollars, I could see my way clear to that.
Can I be Jacob’s friend? I’d be okay with Cranium, but if you can’t find it, $500 would be great. Thanks!
How sad that I had to look up Bakugan.
