We all went to see the kids’ cousin in Seussical the Musical last week and Jacob, despite originally saying he did not want to go, dressed in shirt and tie for the ocassion and thoroughly enjoyed the production.

Our community center had a carnival this weekend and the kids had a blast. Especially Madison because she’s only been on rides once before. For this turn on the hellies she was the only kid riding. It was the end of the day and he gave her an extra long turn.

I enjoy watching them on rides even more than I enjoyed riding them myself when I was little. Their joy is more happiness than I can stand.

what you cannot tell from this photo is that her breakfast requirements are specific, if fluid, and sometimes terribly dramatic.

things have been tough for jacob the last few days. he’s in a pile of parental disappointment and is trying so hard to get out from under it. he got this snack out for dan and i yesterday. he has such a generous and kind spirit. lately it’s been clouded by outside influences. right now we’re bringing him back to basics. time to refocus.

these fellas have been hanging around on the half wall in the kitchen and i’ve let them stay because i like the way the light dances on those glass green arms. but if either of them gets out of line, thassit, pretty green or no.

i took this picture of jacob’s toys before i found out he had a pretty shitty day at school and it turns out this is a damned fine image to capture a bit of this day.

last weekend we were all outside getting little sunburns on our tender winter cheeks. today we woke to snow on the ground and freezing rain beating the crap out of the back of the house.
